Your mission
HELLO! magazine is seeking an experienced, sharp, highly-motivated and organised Deputy Editor.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about entertainment news, royal stories and the international socialite scene, be bursting with agenda-setting feature ideas, interviews, shoots and cover stories.
You will have a contacts book containing the top entertainment PRs and publicists, an impressive track record of landing world exclusives, a keen eye for visually-stunning layouts, able to tell stories through photos and a flair for editing under pressure and within tight time constraints.
This position requires a strong understanding of the latest celebrity, royal and society features, as well as exceptional editorial skills, art skills, news judgement and leadership abilities.

As Deputy Editor, you will work oversee the features department and their output, to produce high-quality cover stories and features ensuring it aligns with the magazine’s tone, style, and values and be up to date on media law.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the editorial planning, production, and execution of the magazine from a features angle
  • Ensuring smooth operation of the editorial team
  • Assist in managing the editorial calendar, ensuring timely delivery of content
  • Oversee the features agenda for the week in the magazine
  • Manage the daily content workflow, ensuring articles are produced on time and meet editorial standards.
  • Approve features layouts
  • Develop fresh angles on trending stories to stand out in a competitive media landscape
  • Create and commission compelling and exclusive content, build relationships with new writers for HELLO!
  • Work cross-platform with the digital team and collaborate closely to ensure cohesive, engaging and exclusive content
Your profile
  • The candidate needs impeccable editorial judgement, will have an eye for breaking stories, a flair for polished storytelling, understands what captivates HELLO’s engaged audience and a commitment to upholding HELLO!’s trusted voice and standards.
  • A contacts book bursting with freelance journalists who have access to agenda-setting, exclusive access to celebrities
  • Work to a fast and tight-turnaround and ensure writers are delivering their news article at speed and accurately
  • Regular attendance at entertainment industry events
  • Proven track record of breaking exclusive stories which appeal to the HELLO! audience
  • Monitor analytics to guide content strategy and increase audience engagement
  • Confident in working with an art team on magazine design
  • Strong, provable, existing relationships with the relevant celebs, PRs, publicists, agents and other industry contacts
Experience
Strong editorial background in print and digital media brands with experience in commissioning and editing content across multiple platforms
Qualifications
​Experience is key but a relevant journalism qualification would be desirable.
